FOSS4G and open source software

Spatial Wave attended FOSS4G (Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial) this past week in Burlingame, CA where contributors, adopters, users, extenders, teachers, service providers, consumers and business and research organizations gather to share their expertise and learn from each other. The opportunity for such a collaboration of expertise will affect the direction of our ecosystem in the future, and we see this gathering as a valuable event for collecting and offering information on the status of open source software. After a week filled with presentations and conversations, it is clear that there are tons of options and products that will help users build economical solutions that are community driven. GIS open source software has come a long way, and we expect it to continue to advance.

Check out this week’s event, and consider signing up for next year’s conference!
