Mapping and geographic information systems are increasingly common tools in response to natural disasters (especially California wildfires) as the state goes through one its worst wildfire seasons on record.

Geospatial imaging has allowed officials to more closely track how widely the fires are burning, as well as assessing the damage as flames are stamped out.
